About The Practice

As a chiropractor who has Physical Therapy Credentials, Takura Tela, DC, is dedicated to winning the battle of health and wellness through patient therapy and education. At his practice True Kings (TK) Healthcare, located in Beltsville and Glen Burnie, Maryland, he believes everyone can achieve their maximum wellness potential because pain is not a lifestyle. Dr. Tela loves to help patients through spinal health, weight loss, or nutrition enlightenment journeys.

Dr. Tela was born and raised in Zimbabwe and immigrated to the United States. He completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Life University in Marietta, Georgia in 2014. He later received a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree from the world’s first school of chiropractic care, Palmer College of Chiropractic, located in Davenport, Iowa.

Dr. Tela is an avid rugby player and coach, representing teams in Zimbabwe and the United States, competing in some of the top competitions in the world. During his most active years, Dr. Tela represented Zimbabwe U19 and U20 teams and won the Junior Africa Cup in 2010 and participated in the Junior World Rugby Trophy in Tbilisi Georgia in 2011. In 2012, Dr. Tela played collegiate rugby at Life University while pursuing his undergraduate degree. His team went on to qualify for the Collegiate Rugby Championship 7s tournament and later won the national 15 D1A Collegiate National Championship in 2013.

At Palmer College of Chiropractic, Dr. Tela started as a player and was promoted to serve as the Head Coach of the Women’s rugby team and later, the Director of Rugby for the institution. During his tenure, the women’s team went on to win the Midwest Division 2 premiership in 2019. When he is not playing rugby, Dr. Tela enjoys watching movies, hiking, and visiting national parks.

At his state-of-the-art practice, Dr. Tela uses chiropractic care and personalized rehabilitation programs to help patients recovering from a variety of pain problems, including headaches, lower back pain, and neck pain. He is also highly experienced in treating injuries related to automobile accidents and sporting events.

Dr. Tela promises to facilitate a safe and natural approach to healthcare that will help unlock the body’s natural healing process.
